Very supportive, the Deluxe Leg In Situ sling gives high levels of support to meet challenging needs. Manufactured from Spacer style ‘Superfine Plus’ material, it can be left in a wheelchair or day care chair underneath the user during the day. (SUBJECT TO A DOCUMENTED RISK ASSESSMENT).
The leg pieces are lined with parasilk for easy application of the sling. Integral bones with support straps give great head support.
What is Spacer Fabric?
Spacer fabric is a unique mesh type fabric that has two way stretch properties. This means that it conforms to the shape of the users body, providing minimal interference with any pressure relieving cushions or materials. It is also breathable which keeps users cooler during the day. The Spacer fabric we use is Black, so that when it is in a wheelchair it is not visible against the Black fabric of the wheelchair.
Spacer fabric also compresses well, meaning that if it is rucked underneath the user, it will not create a hard ridge, which could in turn create a pressure point.
What is the difference between the Deluxe Leg and the Straight Leg style slings?
Deluxe Leg slings have a much greater shape and more fabric around the thigh and buttock area. This means that they are great for users who:
– Go into extension
– Have weak or dislocated hips
– Are more restless or disturbed when being hoisted
– Require a greater degree of comfort
– Have very low muscle tone
However the additional fabric and support around the thigh area means that the slings:
– Offer less access for toileting
– Are more difficult to apply and retrieve
– Are slightly more fiddly for carers to use
As a rule we use Universal Deluxe in 80% of cases as they are so much more supportive and comfortable than the Straight Leg sling, however in instances where greater access is required for toileting, the Straight Leg sling makes a great alternative. (Please note that this is not a toileting sling)
Available in all sizes from XXXSmall to Large.
Sizes XXXSmall , XXSmall, XSmall and Small are also available in Superfine fabric – an ultra lightweight mesh fabric that incorprates Coolmax to keep users cool in the sling. Superfine has a Safe Working Load of 58kg, so is suitable for sizes up to Small.
Sling is suitable for use on loop or ‘coat hanger’ type hoists.
Maximum user weight of sling is 227 kilograms.
