The Straight Leg in situ sling design is simple to use. The Spacer material allows it to be left in a wheelchair during the day, and the parasilk lined legs ensure the sling is easy to apply and retrieve.
What is Spacer Fabric?
Spacer fabric is a unique mesh type fabric that has two way stretch properties. This means that it conforms to the shape of the users body, providing minimal interference with any pressure relieving cushions or materials. It is also breathabl keeping users cooler during the day.
Spacer fabric also compresses well, meaning that if it is rucked underneath the user, it will not create a hard ridge, which could in turn create a pressure point. The Spacer fabric we use is Black, so that when it is in a wheelchair it is not visible against the Black fabric of the wheelchair.
What is the difference between Straight Leg In Situ sling and Universal Deluxe style slings?
Straight Leg In Situ slings have a ‘horseshoe’ style leg design, with less fabric around the legs and a larger aperture. This means that they are great for users who:
– Need to use a commode or toilet whilst in the sling
– Require a sling that is easy to apply and retrieve
– Require a sling that is simple for carers to use
However the smaller leg pieces and minimal fabric around the thigh area means that the slings:
– Are not as comfortable as the Universal Deluxe sling
– Can in certain circumstances can pull towards the groin
– Offer less support and may not be suitable in instances where the user has had a hip replacement for example.
As a rule we use Universal Deluxe in 80% of cases as they are so much more supportive and comfortable than the In Situ Straight Leg sling, however in instances where greater access is required for toileting, the Straight Leg sling makes a great alternative. (Please note that this is not a toileting sling)
Available in all sizes from XXXSmall to Large.
Sling is suitable for use on loop or ‘coat hanger’ type hoists.
Maximum user weight of sling is 227 kilograms.
